I am proud to announce that this my 50th blog post *claps*.
Thank you, Thank you. I thank all my readers for being such encouragement. I would like to personally thank Mohamed Yousuf Adil, the love of my life, for being such moral support. *Hugs*. (Haha). Okay! That is a little dramatic, but I am really glad that I could keep it going till today. I must really thank my loyal readers (you know who you are). Your smiles, frowns, praises and disagreements have made me reflect on what I have written. Thanks thanks and many thanks! Being the 50th post, this entry has to be not only interesting but really meaningful. Listen up! Here are the keys to life...
Some time back, maybe around 2 years ago, I was watching Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice award. Will Smith got his award for i-don't-remember and said "The key to life is running and reading"And so, I slightly improved Smith's keys to life by adding a third R; respect.
PLEASE READ....
Knowledge is power. And reading is the key to knowledge. With history repeating itself, reading is one wise way to understand and solve issues around us.
Many successful people have written books. Their biographies will show that their problems are no different from ours. And, many like John Gray, have attempted to explain the differences between men and women. Reading these helps us understand each other a little better. Even Harry Potter is worth the reading. Apart from the leisure, it instills in us a sense of determination, friendship etc etc.
It all depends on the reader. Reading does not answer the questions in our life, but it simulates and guides our thinking. Of course, reading alone is not enough. We should reflect what we read. It iss called processing the information we gained to create knowledge.
KEEP RUNNING, KEEP KEEP RUNNING,
Many times in life, we just feel like giving up. We wish everything would stop and we could just sleep away forever. We want the problems to not fade but come to a complete stop. The key to life is to keep running. Run till we meet death. No matter what, we should never stop running.
Then again, running towards a unknown destination is pointless. Running with no aim or goal is worthless (unless, of course, you like mystery and risks). Therefore, it is good to have not one goal in life but many. We should aim to achieve something at every stage of our life. Plan to how to get there and keep running. Never stop for anything or anyone.
GIVE RESPECT, TAKE RESPECT
We live in a world made of different species. As I went through my Ethics course the past semester, I began to realize that one thing could make us appreciate the differences among us. And, that is respect. We are all different in many aspects of life, but that does not make us worth any higher or lower. Everyone deserves their due respect. Should we adjust our level of respect between the dean of the school and the cleaner? The priority we give could vary, but the respect should not.
When we begin to respect everyone and everything around us, we tend to take care of our behavior towards them. For instance, when you respect the cleaner lady, you would watch you litter. When you respect your government, you would make efforts to understand their decisions. And, when you respect the rights of the animals around you, you would take care of the environment.
When you begin to respect everyone equally, just like how you want them to respect you, your actions and decision naturally take form to compliment that. Most of all, when you respect others, they respect you.
READ, RUN, RESPECT
I have always emphasized on we being intellectual beings. We are different from the environment we live in. We have the ability to think and behave the way we want. The keys to life will ensure we do so in a rightful manner. :)
