Hazy Days

This is one of those entries where I blabber from some moving vehicle. I am right now in 969 SMRT bus; returning home from work.

My trip to and fro work has been a real hassle. I have to leave my house early in the morning (7am!) to catch a feeder bus to interchange. Then I wait long for 969 and alight at Yishun stadium. If the bus is packed, I have to stand for 40 minutes till I reach my destination. Finally I wait for 857 or 854 to bring me to my workplace in Ang Mo Kio. If all this happens with no delays, I would reach my office on time else I would be at least 10-15 minutes late. I had thought this is the easiest route to work. Apparently there is another route in which I take 39 from a bus stop near my house, alight at some Seletar camp (God knows which jungle that is in) and take 86 to my workplace which is in another jungle. Tonight I shall make some research on the new route and take the risk tomorrow morning. The 3-bus route seems ridiculous when the exit to expressway is just one turn from my house area.

Oh, by the way do not take the term 'jungle' seriously (keep in mind that I blog from a fascinating island aka Singapore). Yishun area just reminds me of jungle. It is full of trees, dense and most of the area that I see from my bus has a red coloured 'Protected Area' sign. Initially I felt very uncomfortable. I have always been scared of these quiet, dense and dark places. I am in good progress of getting use to it. Actually the 'jungle' appears very beautiful in the evening when the sun sets. I have reached Tampines, so that ends the talk of Yishun. I'll continue at home after I have finished cleaning up and preparing my room from Adil's arrival. Handsome is in his SQ flight to Singapore now. J

I am back home. The room looks...what can i say... AWESOME. Adil has touched down *smiles*, so let me end this unfinished business with an incident.

The queue for my feeder bus (291) in Tampines Interchange was long, so I decided to take another bus which was pretty crowded. A very elderly woman boarded the bus. I would expect those seated on the front seats (which are meant for elderly persons, pregnant ladies etc) to get up immediately and offer the seat. However it took sometime before a lady offered the seat. I cannot fathom the reason for the delay. She was a elderly lady who looked like she had weak bones. Does it need to get any more obvious?

That not being enough, a lady carrying a child came in and this type i got really pissed off. None of them sitting in front offered her a seat. Of course I gave up my seat, but I would have preferred someone in the front seat to have done so. I was sitting at a raised level and it would be inconvenient for someone with a child in their lap. Nonetheless, since we were surrounded by inconsiderate young people, I offered my seat. She said loudly 'Thank you for being so considerate'. Later, when she got down the bus, she tapped me gently and said 'Thanks alot.'

Well that was the reality of courtesy in Singapore....
