After a very long time, I went for a movie on Saturday. There were not much options for an early night movie, so Adil and I watched Iron Man. Here's my review:
The movie was completely entertaining. There was no scene which I thought was unnecessary. It could be because of the effort to squeeze in as much content (of the comic) as possible. If so, I would say it was smartly handled. The scenes flowed smoothly with no room for questions.
Robert Downey Jr., was an excellent choice for Iron Man. I do not recall how many of his movies I have seen, but after this he is in my favourites. His look, style and expressions were all admirable. Actually I liked him more as Tony Stark than Iron Man. :)
I felt that Gwyneth Paltrow was kind of underused. Her role did not exactly fulfill that of a heroine. Apart from being the superhero's love, secretary and sometimes 'technician'. Overall I was not very impressed with Pepper Potts. Maybe she may play a more deeper role in Iron Man 2? :)
The villain was one other thing which I was not very happy about. I am not sure if Jeff Bridges was a good choice. Somehow he did not fit the role of the Obadiah Stane. His features could not carry the manipulative betraying nice guy.
Terrence Howard was cool, as always. He played his part well and definitely a boost to the story.
The special effects was satisfactory. I really loved the explosions. It was a stunning sight. The robots in Stark's lab was cute. Haha, especially the fire extinguisher.
The comedy was not so bad. Well, I was not exactly laughing throughout the movie, but for a superhero movie the comedy was to be appreciated. Most of it circled around Tony Stark and the way Downey carried it out was adorable.
The sad part was that, this movie did not have the romance I expected. I suppose there was no room for it. I would have loved for Potts and Tony to kiss. C'mon JUST ONE KISS!!!!
So, I rate the movie 7.5/10 (the 0.5 was gone because there was no kiss!)
